Central HVAC systems
are essentially the respiratory system for a buildings indoor environment.
There are many reasons why a homeowner should consider cleaning their
HVAC system. The reasons become obvious when we first considered
what can be found inside the ducts. Some examples of contaminants
found in duct work are:
Debris:
Dust, dirt, and other soils
Synthetic materials from furniture, drapes, etc
Carpet fibers
Paint dust
Drywall dust
Fiberglass fragments
Construction materials
Asbestos
Biological:
Animal dander
Pollen
Skin scale
Bacteria
Viruses
Mold, mildews, and fungus
Contaminants
and IAQ
Many
factors contribute to poor Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), the largest contributor
is particulate dust and microbial contamination in the air we breath.
Capable of being breathed deeply into the lungs, the most dangerous
particulate are not even visible to human eye as they are sub-micron
(1-3 um) in size. These microscopic particles can be in the
form of dust mite feces, or other airborne contaminants that are continually
circulated by the ventilation systems through the home or business.
It is this range of particle (1-3 um) that creates the most concern
since particles this size become deposited into
our lungs causing the majority of respiratory irritations and allergic
reactions. Since the ducts and air handler can harbor these
pollutants, removing any potential source contamination from the ventilation
system should be considered good practice.
We
can thoroughly remove any and all of these particles from your ducts
and help you become healthier.
